In France, data and cybersecurity experts are the most in-demand. And digital transformation is paying off, according to Robert Walters.
The recruitment firm Robert Walters has outlined the key findings of its 2021 salary survey. In France, despite the uncertain economic and health context, IT and digital executives are benefiting from a “still dynamic market.”
In a context of widespread remote work, increased data exchange volumes, and expanded cybersecurity attack surfaces, certain professionals are more in demand than others. This is particularly true for data scientists and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs).
CISOs, Data Scientists, and Transformation Program Managers
In France, according to Robert Walters, the average gross salary (excluding bonuses, incentives, or benefits) for a data scientist with 5 to 10 years of experience ranges from 60,000 to 70,000 euros. It can reach 100,000 euros for a lead data scientist.
Additionally, a CISO with 10 to 15 years of experience can earn an annual salary ranging from 90,000 to 120,000 euros, depending on the company’s size, industry, and geographical location.
For comparison, a Chief Information Officer (CIO) with 10 to 15 years of experience can earn between 95,000 and 140,000 euros.
Overall, salary levels are expected to remain stable in 2021, except for certain profiles. Digital transformation program managers are among the most likely to see a salary increase (an average of +10%).
External mobility and the mismatch between supply and demand for skills benefit these profiles. In the “IT & Digital” sector, 78% of these positions are held by men.
